Tak Dal/Aam Dal/Raw Mango Dal...

Mango is the King of the Fruits and with the increasing temperatures it can be your ultimate saviour devoured in any form. So today I present before you the most popular recipe of the Bengali households- "Tak Dal". Let's try our hands on this unique recipe today.

Tak Dal/Aam Dal/Raw Mango Dal...    
Ingredients-
Masoor Dal - 1 cup
Green Mango - 1 large
Salt and Sugar to taste
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp                               
Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp                             
Black Pepper powder - 1 tsp                   
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Mustard Oil
Panch foron - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Dry red chillies - 2 pcs
Method-
Peel and cut the mango lengthwise in 4-5 pieces. If you are using a knife, it would be a very difficult task to slice it through the hard seed. In that case take out as much flesh as possible from the mango in big chunks. Don’t discard the seed. Wash the dal and place it in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, cumin powder and the mango pieces with the seed. On medium flame cook it upto 1 whistle. Once it is cold enough to handle, open the lid and mash the dal and mango pieces with a whisk till you get a very smooth consistency. Add another cup of water and salt. Mix well and keep aside. Heat 1 tsp of mustard oil and temper it with panchforon, mustard seeds and dry chillies. Once they start to sputter pour the lentil mixture. Immediately cover with a lid for the dal to soak all the flavour. Mix in the sugar. Serve hot with rice.
